Fall Educational School Tour in October:

Your Tour In Detail

The tour begins with an old fashioned hayride around the farm.  Children will learn about nature, the way crops grow, the harvesting of pumpkins, strawberries, and the production of Christmas trees.  The wagon will stop at our “Sugar Pie” patch for everyone to pick out their own pumpkin during pumpkin season.  (Teachers my select a classroom pumpkin from the field or at our Country Store.)  At the next stop, learn how cider is made from an old timey cider mill.  (Pasteurized cider will be available for sampling on the Fall Tour only.)  Finish the tour watching and listening to Granny Mae share her memories of days gone by, while she tends her garden and makes homemade Lye soap.  She is sure to entertain the children once again.

Each child will receive an educational coloring book to reinforce the material learned on their tour.

The educational part of your tour will take 1 hr. and 30 min.  Please allow additional time for lunch, snacks, play area, and visiting the farm animals.  Restroom facilities and picnic tables are available on the farm.

 Country Store

Fresh homemade apple jacks will be available for $1.75 each when ordered in advance.  (This is a special price for school orders only and must be called in ahead of time.  Any order added-to upon arrival at the farm will be at the regular price of $2.25 each.)  Apple cider is still available in our Country Store.

Prices

All tours are $8.00 per person (children ages 2 and up) and adults - this includes class moms, dads, volunteers, etc.)  Teachers and Aides will receive a complimentary tour (minimum 20 per class).

 Checking In

Please try to arrive a few minutes before your scheduled time so we may fulfill our obligations to the groups after you.  Some groups travel a good distance and have to maintain a tight schedule; therefore, the hay wagon needs to leave promptly at your designated time.  If you should run into problems arriving on time, PLEASE CALL, so the wagon is not held up unnecessarily.

Please check in at the front counter in the Country Store upon your arrival.  We need this early check in time to organize coloring books, seedlings, bakery items, etc.  Your group’s take home items will be ready at the end of your tour.  Please remember to pick these items up.

If there should be a snag...

When the weather appears questionable on the morning of your scheduled tour, please call Mike’s Farm at 1-888-820-FARM or (910) 324-3422 for the exact weather conditions, as weather varies from area to area.

 HOT DOG LUNCHES

A brown bag lunch including 1 hotdog, chips, cookie, and juice is available at a cost of $4.00 per lunch.  One week’s notice is required if your group would like lunches prepared.

Count must be accurate as lunches are prepared prior to your arrival.  Charge will be for the number of lunches prepared.
